Every day for the past couple of weeks, some of our Year 6 children have been reading with Year 1 and 2 children at lunchtime. This has been such a pleasure to see, and both year groups are benefiting from reading together. Thank you to the volunteers, who will each continue to read once per week. There are also Year 5 volunteers who will also be starting to read with them. It is proven that a child that reads for
pleasure is more likely to succeed in all subjects. Also, if a child is read to for 10 minutes a day by an adult, it can massively improve that child’s attainment across the subjects.
